Lyrics

[Intro: Justin Bieber]
Oh, woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh, woah-oh-oh-oh, oh
Oh, woah, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh

[Verse 1: Justin Bieber & Ludacris]
You know you love me, I know you care (Yo, uh-huh)
Just shout whenever and I'll be there (Yo, uh-huh)
You are my love, you are my heart (Yo, uh-huh)
And we will never, ever, ever be apart (Yo, uh-huh)
Are we an item? Girl, quit playin' (Yo, uh-huh)
We're just friends, what are you sayin'? (Yo, uh-huh)
Said, "There's another" and looked right in my eyes (Yo, uh-huh)
My first love broke my heart for the first time, and I was like (Yo, uh-huh)

[Chorus: Justin Bieber]
Baby, baby, baby, oh
Like baby, baby, baby, no
Like baby, baby, baby, oh
Thought you'd always be mine, mine
Baby, baby, baby, oh
Like baby, baby, baby, no
Like baby, baby, baby, oh
Thought you'd always be mine, mine

[Verse 2: Justin Bieber & Ludacris]
Oh, for you, I would've done whatever (Yo, uh-huh)
And I just can't believe we ain't together (Yo, uh-huh)
And I wanna play it cool, but I'm losin' you (Yo, uh-huh)
I'll buy you anything, I'll buy you any ring (Yo, uh-huh)
And I'm in pieces, baby, fix me (Yo, uh-huh)
And just shake me till you wake me from this bad dream (Yo, uh-huh)
I'm goin' down, down, down, down (Yo, uh-huh)
And I just can't believe my first love won't be around, and I'm like

[Chorus: Justin Bieber]
Baby, baby, baby, oh
Like baby, baby, baby, no
Like baby, baby, baby, oh
Thought you'd always be mine, mine
Baby, baby, baby, oh
Like baby, baby, baby, no
Like baby, baby, baby, oh
Thought you'd always be mine, mine

[Verse 3: Ludacris]
(Luda) When I was thirteen, I had my first love
There was nobody that compared to my baby, and nobody came between us nor could ever come above
She had me goin' crazy, oh, I was starstruck
She woke me up daily, don't need no Starbucks (Woo)
She made my heart pound, and skip a beat when I see her in the street and
At school on the playground, but I really wanna see her on the weekend
She knows she got me dazing 'cause she was so amazin'
And now my heart is breakin', but I just keep on sayin'

[Chorus: Justin Bieber]
Baby, baby, baby, oh
Like baby, baby, baby, no
Like baby, baby, baby, oh
Thought you'd always be mine, mine
Baby, baby, baby, oh
Like baby, baby, baby, no
Like baby, baby, baby, oh
Thought you'd always be mine, mine

[Outro: Justin Bieber]
I'm gone (Yeah-yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah)
Now I'm all gone (Yeah-yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah)
Now I'm all gone (Yeah-yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah)
Now I'm all gone (Gone, gone, gone, gone), I'm gone

Why It's Literally in Pieces and Should Never Be Fixed

  1. The premise itself is really ridiculous and manipulative. It's about a guy who can't accept that his feelings towards a girl isn't mutual and chases her down to try to make her like him back.
  2. Like with many of his early songs, Justin's voice is very annoyingly high-pitched, obnoxious, whiny and effeminate. Though, this is actually understandable since he was a late bloomer. There is also a lot of autotune, which does not do anything to help Bieber's voice and only makes him sound worse.
  3. Repetitive and terrible chorus. The title is repeated 55 times in the song, which can get on your last nerve.
  4. The music video, despite being filmed in a nice city, is also ridiculous since it clearly showcases the aforementioned manipulative premise.
    • Drake also makes a cameo in the music video, which given his reputation nowadays, is a little concerning, especially considering the fact that there are a lot of underage girls in it.
  5. The production is very cheap, as it just features your generic early-2010s pop dance instrumental with synths that add no charm to the song and can get boring pretty quickly. Not to mention that it's the first example of Justin Bieber using clichéd and lazy computer-generated beats to make music (despite him being a professional multi-instrumentalist), which is something the artist is notorious for.
  6. Ludacris's feature, while he still does a better job than Bieber, is very pointless as he does almost nothing to improve the song, which is humiliating since he is known for being a great artist.
  7. Apparently, this song is so bad that when a bear in Russia was attacking a man and the man's ringtone as this song went off, it actually scared off the bear,[1][2] proving that even an animal can be irritated by this song.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. The cheesy instrumental, awkward lyrics and Justin's annoying voice can make for unintentional comedy.

Reception

Despite positive critic reviews, audience reviews were overwhelmingly negative. It has often been considered to be not only the worst song by Justin Bieber, but the worst song of 2010, the worst song of the 2010s and one of the worst songs ever recorded. When the music video of the song was released on YouTube, it became the most disliked music video on YouTube, as well as the most disliked video in YouTube's history until 2018, when YouTube Rewind 2018 surpassed it.

Trivia

  • Rodrick sings this song in Heather's birthday party in the film Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.
